Orthoptera of the peat bogs and wet mountain grasslands in Orava region (NW Slovakia) [PDF]
Abstract: Peat bogs are habitats of European importance, but only few data exists on crickets and grasshoppers living in these habitats. Altogether 22 species of Orthoptera (6 Tettigonioidea, 2 Tetrigoidea and 14 Acrididoidea) were found in 16 selected localities, in peat bogs and wet mountain meadows in the Orava region in 2008–2011.

Damage to spruce stands in the Kysuce and Orava region determined from the National Forest Inventory [PDF]
An analysis of the status of spruce stands in the Kysuce and Orava region was performed and their health condition was compared to the spruce forest constitution in the rest of Slovakia. For this purpose, the inventory plots established within the first circle of National Forest Inventory (NFI) in 2005 and 2006 were used.

Based on research of ruderal vegetation in the Horna Orava region in the 1980s and in 2005–2007, a list of neophytes was compiled. Thirty-three species of neophytes have been found, representing 6 % of the overall flora. The geographical origin, family, life-history, life-form and status of invasion of these species were assessed.

Abstract The deep-water clastic systems of the Central Carpathian Paleogene Basin contain megabeds, which are developed in distinctive stratigraphic horizons and can be traced over long distances. These beds are characterized by great individual thickness (4-13 m), uniform lithology and internal structures.
