Giant anisotropic magnetoresistance through a tilted molecular π-orbital

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR), originating from spin-orbit coupling (SOC), is the sensitivity of the electrical resistance in magnetic systems to the direction of spin magnetization.

Codimension-two homoclinic bifurcations underlying spike adding in the Hindmarsh-Rose burster

open access: yes, 2011
The well-studied Hindmarsh-Rose model of neural action potential is revisited from the point of view of global bifurcation analysis. This slow-fast system of three paremeterised differential equations is arguably the simplest reduction of Hodgkin-Huxley ...

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Interplay of canted antiferromagnetism and nematic order in Mott insulating Sr2Ir1-xRhxO4

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Sr2IrO4 is one of the prime candidates for realizing exotic quantum spin orders owing to the subtle combination of spin-orbit coupling and electron correlation.

Reversible saddle-node separatrix-loop bifurcation [PDF]

open access: yes
We describe the unfolding of a special variant of the codimension-two Saddle-Node Separatrix-Loop (SNSL) bifurcation that occurs in systems with time-reversibility.

Investigation of Halogen Substitution Effects in π‐Conjugated Organic Ligands of Chiral Hybrid Perovskites on Their Chiroptical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of novel thiophene‐based ligands with halogen substitutions in enhancing the chiroptical and optoelectronic properties of 2D chiral HOIPs has been investigated. By tailoring ligand design, enhanced CD and CPL properties are achieved, with improved CPL discrimination in photodetectors.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

The key energy scales of Gd-based metallofullerene determined by resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectroscopy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Endohedral metallofullerenes, formed by encaging Gd inside fullerenes like C80, can exhibit enhanced proton relaxitivities compared with other Gd-chelates, making them the promising contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Orbital flips in hierarchical triple systems: Relativistic effects and third-body effects to hexadecapole order

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2017
We analyze the secular evolution of hierarchical triple systems in the post-Newtonian approximation to general relativity. We expand the Newtonian three-body equations of motion in powers of the ratio $a/A$, where $a$ and $A$ are the semimajor axis of the inner binary's orbit and of the orbit of the third body relative to the center of mass of the ...
