Orbit dynamics for unstable linear motion [PDF]
A treatment is given of the orbit dynamics for linear unstable motion that allows for the zeros in the beta function and makes no assumptions about the realness of the betatron and phase functions. The phase shift per turn is shown to be related to the beta function and the number of zeros the beta function goes through per turn.

Coupling of Dynamical Tide and Orbital Motion [PDF]
Abstract The dynamical tide consists of various waves that can resonate with orbital motion. We test this coupling of the dynamical tide and orbital motion using a simple 2D shallow water model, which can be applied to a rocky planet covered with a thin ocean or atmosphere.

Observation of long-range orbital transport and giant orbital torque [PDF]
Modern spintronics relies on the generation of spin currents through spin-orbit coupling. The spin-current generation has been believed to be triggered by current-induced orbital dynamics, which governs the angular momentum transfer from the lattice to the electrons in solids.

The Orbits and Dynamical Masses of the Castor System
Abstract Castor is a system of six stars in which the two brighter objects, Castor A and B, revolve around each other every ∼450 yr and are both short-period spectroscopic binaries. They are attended by the more distant Castor C, which is also a binary.

Ferrimagnetic Dynamics Induced by Spin‐Orbit Torques
Ferrimagnets are the magnetic materials with the fastest current‐induced dynamics reported so far. Among them, rare‐earth transition‐metal (RE‐TM) alloys offer a fertile playground for studying the behavior of multi‐sublattice systems with tunable ...

Curvature in orbital dynamics [PDF]
The physical basis and the geometrical significance of the equation for the orbit of a particle moving under the action of external forces is exhibited by deriving this equation in a coordinate-independent representation in terms of the radius of curvature of the orbit.

Robotic Manipulation and Capture in Space: A Survey
Space exploration and exploitation depend on the development of on-orbit robotic capabilities for tasks such as servicing of satellites, removing of orbital debris, or construction and maintenance of orbital assets. Manipulation and capture of objects on-

Thermal Bending of the Rotor Due to Rotor-to-Stator Rub
The rotor thermal bending due to the rotor-to-stator rubbing can lead to one of three types of observed rotor lateral motion: (1) spiral with increasing amplitude, (2) oscillating between rub]no-rub conditions, and (3) asymptotical approach to the rotor ...

The Perturbed Full Two-body Problem: Application to Post-DART Didymos
With the successful impact of the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft in the Didymos–Dimorphos binary asteroid system, we provide an initial analysis of the post-impact perturbed binary asteroid dynamics.
