Unstable periodic orbits and prediction
Physical Review A, 1991A hierarchical approximation of a generic chaotic attractor can be formulated in terms of unstable periodic orbits. We demonstrate the possibility of extracting the most dominant unstable periodic orbits from a measurement of a time-continuous flow. Since unstable periodic orbits not only represent the static properties of the system but also dominate ...

Hypercomplex Multilayer Perceptron for Planetary Orbits Prediction
2023 9th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT), 2023This contribution is oriented towards proposing a novel strategy to simulate and predict planetary orbits based on exploiting the optimized performance of hypercomplex neural networks. These structures perform a learning process based on quaternion algebra thus leading to lower the number of epochs required to obtain an adequate degree of approximation.

A discussion on orbital analysis - Some problems of orbital prediction
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1967Abstract Attention is paid to the problem of predicting accurately (a) the orbital elements of a balloon satellite over long periods of time, and (b) the time the satellite will pass through a given point in the orbit, a few days or weeks in advance of the event.

The OTV fulfills orbital maneuver by selecting appropriate transfer points to save fuels. Usually, before the orbital maneuver, it shall carry out non-powered free sliding in large elliptic orbit for a long time. During such process, due to the longer sliding period, the error of inertial navigation will be accumulated as time elapses.

Nimerical Averaging in Orbit Prediction
AIAA Journal, 1972This paper is a presentation of some useful aspects of a numerical averaging technique that has been applied with considerable success to the orbit prediction problem for artificial satellites. The method has been tested in a variety of situations wherein the satellite is subjected to combinations of perturbations for which adequate analytic theories ...

Orbit Predictions for CHAMP — Development and Status
2003Accurate CHAMP orbit predictions labelled as the PreDicted Science Orbit (PDO) are generated on a sub-daily basis by an automated processor in particular to support the operations of the ground station network of the International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS).

Orbit prediction and shuttle rendezvous strategy for eureca
Acta Astronautica, 1983The European Retrievable Carrier (EURECA) is a platform to be launched and retrieved by the Space Shuttle. An analytical approach is presented for EURECA to execute the first part of the rendezvous manuevers. As part of the solution a new drag perturbation theory is developed, which includes analytical air density models and aerodynamic cross sections.

GNSS orbit prediction with enhanced force model
2015 International Conference on Location and GNSS (ICL-GNSS), 2015Orbit prediction algorithms can be used in a portable positioning device to reduce the Time to First Fix and to augment the received broadcast ephemeris. In this work, we study the two-week prediction accuracy improvement that can be obtained when adding some smaller forces to our previously developed algorithm.

Orbit Predictions for CHAMP and GRACE
2010The orbit prediction system of GFZ is an indispensable tool for Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) stations tracking the satellites CHAMP, GRACE-A/B, and TerraSAR-X, for providing orbit information for initial processing of mission data, and for the purpose of mission operations.
