Polarization Diversified Integrated Circuits for Orbital Angular Momentum Multiplexing

We present a free-space coherent communication link employing orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing using polarization diversified 2D–3D hybrid photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The PICs support multiplexing/demultiplexing of up to 15-OAM states with dual polarizations.

Orbital angular momentum division multiplexing in optical fibre

We investigate the feasibility of the orbital angular momentum division multiplexing in optical fibre. Two optical vortices carrying well-definite values of orbital angular momentum, with topological charges equal to 0 and 1, respectively, are multiplexed in a few-mode fibre and then demultiplexed after a propagation of 200 m.

Complex-amplitude metasurfaces for orbital angular momentum multiplexing holography

We demonstrate the design and 3D printing of a large-scale complex-amplitude metasurface hologram for orbital angular momentum-multiplexing holography. The independent and complete amplitude and phase manipulation allows the lensless reconstruction of 200 OAM-dependent orthogonal image frames for holographic videos displays.
