Cell-free matrix derived from adipose mesenchymal stromal cells enhances corneal rehabilitation via delivery of nerve regenerative PGRN

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Promotion of corneal dense network of nerve is a promising method to treat severe corneal injury, yet with limited effective drugs. In our previous work, decellularized matrix of adipose derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ADMSCs), named as DMA, presented

A quantitative study of the effect of ICL orientation selection on post-operative vault and model-assisted vault prediction

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2023
BackgroundAppropriate vault height of implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation matters for it has risks of corneal endothelial cell loss, cataract formation and intraocular pressure elevation, which could lead to irreversible damage to optic nerve ...

Sustained Release of Proteins Using Region‐Specific Tunable Degradability in Hydrogels through 3D Photopatterning and Complimentary Labile Bond Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of ultraviolet‐ and near‐infrared radiation sensitive photoactivatable hydrogels are developed that can be controlled spatiotemporally down to µm precisions using one‐ and two‐photon uncaging. The latent hydroxylamine‐, hydrazine‐, and amine uncaged moieties are used to photopattern a series of diverse proteins displaying complimentary ...

Sleep-Wake Differences in Scaling Behavior of the Human Heartbeat: Analysis of Terrestrial and Long-Term Space Flight Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We compare scaling properties of the cardiac dynamics during sleep and wake periods for healthy individuals, cosmonauts during orbital flight, and subjects with severe heart disease. For all three groups, we find a greater degree of anticorrelation in the heartbeat fluctuations during sleep compared to wake periods.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Predictive markers for anti-inflammatory treatment response in thyroid eye disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
Anti-inflammatory treatment is the primary and vital therapeutic approach for active, moderate-to-severe thyroid eye disease (TED). Accurate pretreatment prediction of treatment response is of paramount importance for the prognosis of patients.

Periodic orbits for periodic eco-epidemiological systems with infected prey [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We address the existence of periodic orbits for periodic eco-epidemiological system with disease in the prey. To do it, we consider three main steps. Firstly we study a one parameter family of systems and obtain uniform bounds for the components of any periodic solution of these systems.

Narrowband Detection via Charge Collection Narrowing Organic Photodetector Enabled by Low Bandgap Random Terpolymer for Biometric Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel low‐bandgap random terpolymer is designed for narrow band detection in charge collection narrowing (CCN) based organic photodetectors. With a relative thin active layer (<1 µm), the CCN‐based devices achieved a narrowband response of 68 nm full‐width‐at‐half‐maximum at 916 nm, together with Responsivity values of 0.13 A W−1 and dark current of ...
