In 1962 the first American piloted orbital flights began and my teacher at Wibsey Junior School, Mr Slater, brought a radio into the classroom so that we could listen to these flights.

A set modified equinoctial orbit elements
Celestial Mechanics, 1985Modified equinoctial elements are introduced which are suitable for perturbation analysis of all kinds of orbit. Equations of motion in Lagrangian and Gaussian forms are derived. Identities connecting the partial derivatives of the disturbing function with respect to equinoctial elements are established.
