Repair of unilateral combined orbital floor and medial wall fracture using two titanium mesh plates: a modified technique

open access: yesAnnals of Translational Medicine, 2021
Background Compared to isolated orbital wall fracture, combined orbital floor and medial wall fractures are more likely to be required surgical correction due to a higher possibility of complications. However, it remains a challenge to repair concomitant

Enophthalmos and Diplopia in Fractures of the Orbital Floor

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1956
Summary Fractures involving the weak portion of the floor of the orbit are more frequent than usually assumed. They occur either in association with fractures of the stronger anterior rim of the orbital floor, or independently as a result of increased intraorbital pressure, the "blow-out" fracture.

Biomechanical analysis using finite element analysis of orbital floor fractures reproduced in a realistic experimental environment with an anatomical model

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
Introduction: In this study, we attempted to demonstrate the actual process of orbital floor fracture visually and computationally in anatomically reconstructed structures and to investigate them using finite element analysis. Methods: A finite element ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Mixed‐Polymer Hole Transport Layers Reinforce Au‐Anode Top Emitting Perovskite Light Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Au‐anode corrosion is shown to occur rapidly under voltage bias in MAPbI3 perovskite LEDs. Resulting Au+ migration quickly leads to device shorting and unstable emission during constant current driving. We demonstrate that using a simple mixed‐polymer hole transport layer containing polyTPD and PVK can reduce Au‐corrosion and stabilize LED operation ...

Repair of Orbital Floor Fracture With Modified Transnasal Endoscopic Approach Through Anterior Space to Nasolacrimal Duct

open access: yesThe Journal of craniofacial surgery (Print), 2017
Objectives: Endoscopic approach provides excellent magnification and visualization, and a purely transnasal approach is minimally invasive method.

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Does endoscopic sinus surgery alter the biomechanics of the orbit?

open access: yesJournal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 2020
Objective The purpose of this study is to determine if removal of ethmoid cell septations as commonly performed in endoscopic sinus surgery leads to a change in orbital wall fracture patterns and the force required to create them.
