Periodic orbits in polygonal billiards [PDF]

open access: yesPramana, 1997
We review some properties of periodic orbit families in polygonal billiards and discuss in particular a sum rule that they obey. In addition, we provide algorithms to determine periodic orbit families and present numerical results that shed new light on the proliferation law and its variation with the genus of the invariant surface.

A 34 yr Timing Solution of the Redback Millisecond Pulsar Terzan 5A

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a 34 yr timing solution of the redback pulsar system Terzan 5A (Ter5A). Ter5A, also known as B1744−24A or J1748−2446A, has a 11.56 ms pulse period, a ~0.1 M _⊙ dwarf companion star, and an orbital period of 1.82 hr.

Impact of the orbital uncertainties on the timing of pulsars in binary systems

open access: yes, 2012
The detection of pulsations from an X-ray binary is an unambiguous signature of the presence of a neutron star in the system. When the pulsations are missed in the radio band, their detection at other wavelengths, like X-ray or gamma-rays, requires ...

Periodic orbits, breaktime and localization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1998
The main goal of the present paper is to convince that it is feasible to construct a `periodic orbit theory' of localization by extending the idea of classical action correlations. This possibility had been questioned by many researchers in the field of `Quantum Chaos'.

An acute inflammation of the orbit simulating a metastasis in a patient with primary multiple malignant tumors

open access: yesОнкогематология, 2022
We describe a patient with primary multiple malignant tumors who experienced exophthalmos with ophthalmoplegia during two weeks. Data of physical examination were typical for orbital malignant tumor.

MAXI J1659-152: the shortest orbital period black-hole transient in outburst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
MAXI J1659−152 is a bright X-ray transient black-hole candidate binary system discovered in September 2010. We report here on MAXI, RXTE, Swift, and XMM-Newton observations during its 2010/2011 outburst.

THE ROLE OF MAGNETIC STELLAR WIND AND MASS TRANSFER IN CLOSE BINARIES OF THE EARLY SPECTRAL TYPE

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
We suggest the results of calculations of mass transfer rate using orbital period changing and changing of orbital semi-major axis due to magnetic stellar Wind and mass transfer in close binaries of early spectral type.

Primary Orbital Lymphoma – A Challenging Diagnosis

open access: yesActa Medica Bulgarica, 2020
Background and purpose: The occurrence of primary orbital lymphoma comprises approximately 1% of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and 8% of extranodal lymphoma. The vast majority of orbital lymphomas are of B-cell origin, of which extranodal marginal zone B-cell ...

Periodic orbits in outer billiard

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2006
It is shown that the set of 4-period orbits in outer billiard with piecewise smooth convex boundary has an empty interior, provided that no four corners of the boundary form a parallelogram.
