Characterization of Orungo virus, an orbivirus from Uganda and Nigeria

Archives of Virology, 1976
Orungo virus was studied in cell culture and mice by light and electron microscopy. The virus developed in the cytoplasm of infected cells in mouse brain and cell culture in association with a specific viral granular matrix and accompanying filaments. Virus particle size was 63 nm with a core diameter of 34 nm.

Occurrence and spatial distribution of Toggenburg Orbivirus in Switzerland

Small Ruminant Research, 2010
Abstract Recently, a new member of the Bluetongue virus (BTV) serogroup named Toggenburg Orbivirus (TOV) in goats from Switzerland has been described. The epidemiology and host range of TOV are currently unknown. Since TOV causes cross-reactions in laboratory tests used for BTV diagnosis, this study was carried out in order to determine the spatial ...

Detection of Toggenburg Orbivirus by a segment 2-specific quantitative RT-PCR

Journal of Virological Methods, 2010
Toggenburg Orbivirus (TOV) has been detected recently in healthy goats in Switzerland. The virus is related closely to bluetongue virus (BTV) and is considered tentatively as a 25th serotype of BTV. Upon detection of additional TOV-positive goats in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy, these TOV isolates were characterized genetically by partial sequencing
