A User-Friendly Algorithm for Detecting the Influence of Background Risks on a Model

open access: yesRisks, 2018
Background, or systematic, risks are integral parts of many systems and models in insurance and finance. These risks can, for example, be economic in nature, or they can carry more technical connotations, such as errors or intrusions, which could be ...

A New Family of Truncated Nadarajah-Haghighi-G Properties with Real Data Applications

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Administrative and Economic Sciences, 2023
In this paper, the [0,1] truncated Nadarajah Haghighi- G family is introduced, and some of its statistical properties such as expansion of its PDF are derived. In addition, quantile function, survival function, hazard rate function, reversed hazard rate

Logistic Order Statistics

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1963
Expected values and standard deviations of order statistics from a logistic distribution are given for sample sizes $n = 1,2, \cdots, 10$ and $n = 15, 20, 50$, and 100, and summarized in graphs to facilitate interpolation to other sample sizes. For $n \leqq 10$ the results are compared with asymptotic approximations.

THORS: An Efficient Approach for Making Classifiers Cost-Sensitive

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, we propose an effective THresholding method based on the Order Statistic, called THORS, to convert an arbitrary scoring-type classifier, which can induce a continuous cumulative distribution function of the score, into a cost-sensitive one.

Reliability Class Testing and Hypothesis Specification: NBRULC−t Characterizations with Applications for Medical and Engineering Data Modeling

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
Due to the complexity of the data being generated day in and day out in many practical domains, as a result of the development of scales for rating the success or failure of reliability, a new domain of reliability called the classes of life and ...

How does motion affect GABA-measurements? Order statistic filtering compared to conventional analysis of MEGA-PRESS MRS. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The aim of this study was to evaluate two post-processing techniques applied to MRS MEGA-PRESS data influenced by motion-induced artifacts. In contrast to the conventional averaging technique, order statistic filtering (OSF) is a known method for ...

Deep order statistic networks

open access: yes, 2014
Recently, Maxout networks have demonstrated state-of-the-art per-formance on several machne learning tasks, which has fueled ag-gressive research on Maxout networks and generalizations thereof. In this work, we propose the utilization of order statistics

On $q$-Order Statistics

open access: yes, 2023
Building on the notion of $q$-integral introduced by Thomae in 1869, we introduce $q$-order statistics (that, is $q$-analogues of the classical order statistics, for ...

A generalisation of the exponential distribution and its applications on modelling skewed data

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields, 2018
In this paper, a generalisation of the exponential distribution, namely, Weibull exponentiated-exponential (WEE) distribution, is proposed. The shapes of the density function possess great flexibility.
