Circuit width, register allocation, and ordered binary decision diagrams

IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 1991
The relationship between two important means of representing Boolean functions, combinational circuits and ordered binary decision diagrams (OBDDs), is studied. Circuit width is related to OBDD size. and it is shown how algorithms for register allocation can be used to determine a good variable order for OBDD construction.

Dynamic Decision on Checkpointing by Use of Reduced Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams

1997
This article aims at supporting design for safety: it suggests a strategy in order to optimize checkpointing while processing large amounts of binary data. The approach developed allows to design a mechanism capable of taking appropriate decisions during execution on whether to interrupt the ongoing operation to check intermediate values or whether to ...

Shared Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams for Dempster-Shafer Theory

2007
The binary representation is widely used for representing focal sets of Dempster-Shafer belief functions because it allows to compute efficiently all relevant operations. However, as its space requirement grows exponentially with the number of variables involved, computations may become prohibitive or even impossible for belief functions with larger ...
