Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Time-integrated Polarization of Structured Jets in Gamma-Ray Burst Prompt Emission

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The structure of gamma-ray burst (GRB) jets remains one of the most significant open questions in high-energy astrophysics. Observations of events like GRB 170817A, associated with gravitational waves, and the exceptionally bright GRB 221009A suggest ...

Orders in quadratic fields, III

open access: yesProceedings of the Japan Academy, Series A, Mathematical Sciences, 1994
The results in this paper continue the parts I and II with the same title [cf. ibid. 69, No. 3, 45-48 (1993; Zbl 0795.11056) and the author and \textit{L.-C. Zhang}, ibid., No. 9, 368-371 (1993; see the preceding review)]. Namely, the author first disproves a conjecture posed in part I concerning a criterion for the ideal class group of complex ...

Understanding bio‐based polymers: A study of origins, properties, biodegradation and their impact on health and the environment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of bio‐based polymer sources, their unique functional properties and their environmental impact, and addresses their role as sustainable alternatives. It discusses end‐of‐life options, including composting and anaerobic digestion for renewable energy.

Transition metals: Matching microscopic quantum dynamics with macroscopic magnetic order

open access: yesAIP Advances
The magnetic properties of transition metals are strongly affected by electron correlations. Dynamic approximations improving upon the static mean field must be applied to obtain a realistic description of the low-temperature magnetic behavior.

METRIC SPACES OVER ORDERED FIELDS

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 1996
Given an ordered field \(F\), \(F\)-metric spaces are studied as couples \((X,d)\), where \(X\) is a set and \(d : X \times X \to F\) satisfies axioms analogous to usual axioms of a metric. A prototype is the hyperreal field \(^*R\). Instead of the set \(\mathbb{N}\) of natural numbers an unbounded set \(I\) with minimal ordinality is considered.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
