Ordered Logit Modeling Of Chronic Poverty Determinants In Russia

open access: yesThe European Proceedings of Social and Behavioural Sciences, 2019
At the end of 20th century, fundamental social and economic changes took place in Russian society, reflecting changes in level and structure of poverty, as well as opportunities to get out of it. The economic reforms of "shock therapy" led to mass mobility of people up and down between social groups.

Ordered-logit pedestrian stress model for traffic flow with automated vehicles

open access: yes2022 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2022
An ordered-logit model is developed to study the effects of Automated Vehicles (AVs) in the traffic mix on the average stress level of a pedestrian when crossing an urban street at mid-block. Information collected from a galvanic skin resistance sensor and virtual reality experiments are transformed into a dataset with interpretable average stress ...

Non‐Volatile Phase Modulation with Ultralow Energy Consumption Enabled by 2D Ferroelectric/TMD Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a hybrid WS2/CuInP2S6/graphene heterostructure integrated on a silicon nitride microring resonator for non‐volatile optical phase modulation with ultra‐low energy consumption and low insertion loss. While CIPS alone does not provide efficient optical index modulation, the engineered proposed device structure converts ferroelctric domain ...

Analysis of Factors Influencing the Vehicle Damage Level in Fatal Truck-Related Accidents and Differences in Rural and Urban Areas

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2016
Accidents involving large trucks very often end up with deadly consequences. Innocent people getting killed are acknowledged globally as one of the traffic safety greatest problems and challenges.

Modeling and Analysis of Urban and Rural Bus Accidents [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی, 2014
The bus is one of the oldest modes of public transportation. Two of the main priorities for any public transport system are therefore the safety of buses and that of the traffic around them.

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

The link between socio-economic factors and multiple child deprivations in Kenya

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2021
This paper analyzes the socio-economic correlates of multiple child deprivations in Kenya using the 1993–2014 KDHS. Conventionally, child well-being is examined from the perspective of income poverty.

Determinants of local food producer participation in state‐sponsored marketing programs: Evidence from Missouri

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines producer participation choices considering a variety of potential benefits linked to state‐sponsored marketing programs, using a real choice dataset of farmers in Missouri. Multinomial logit models are employed to predict determinants of farmer enrollment in three tiers of the Missouri Grown local food marketing program ...

Analyzing individual rent price ratios in eastern German agricultural land markets: A GAMLSS approach

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explores the rent price ratio in agricultural land markets, crucial for evaluating market efficiency, policy needs, and farmer decision‐making. Traditionally, the analyses faced challenges due to the absence of concurrent sale and rent data for the same land, potentially leading to biased results.

Farmers' Financial Literacy—Scale Development and Linkages to Accounting Practices and Financial Outcomes

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the financial literacy (FL) of Swedish farmers, its linkages to farmer characteristics, management accounting practices and farm outcomes by surveying Swedish Farm Accountancy Data Network farmers. Using item response theory, we expand the existing FL measurement specifically to the farming context, assess measurement ...
