Boltzmann sampling of ordered structures [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics, 2009
Boltzmann models from statistical physics combined with methods from analytic combinatorics give rise to efficient algorithms for the random generation of combinatorials objects. This paper proposes an efficient sampler which satisfies the Boltzmann model principle for ordered structures.

Deformation of ordered mesoporous silica structures on exposure to high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ordered mesoporous silica materials are of interest for a wide range of applications. In many of these, elevated temperatures are used either in the preparation of the material or during its use.

Microscopic ion fluxes in plasma-aided nanofabrication of ordered carbon nanotip structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Three-dimensional topography of microscopic ion fluxes in the reactive hydrocarbon-based plasma-aided nanofabrication of ordered arrays of vertically aligned single-crystalline carbon nanotip microemitter structures is simulated by using a Monte Carlo ...

The transition of fly ash-based geopolymer gels into ordered structures and the effect on the compressive strength

open access: yes, 2016
This paper reports the investigation of microstructural properties associated with the transition of amorphous gels into more ordered structures in fly ash-based geopolymers.

Earthmover Resilience and Testing in Ordered Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
One of the main challenges in property testing is to characterize those properties that are testable with a constant number of queries. For unordered structures such as graphs and hypergraphs this task has been mostly settled.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

ORDER-DISORDER STRUCTURES

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1988
AbstractAfter introducing the notion of order-disorder (OD) structures, three basic ideas of the theory of OD structures are presented: (1) explanation of the phenomena of polytypism and stacking disorder on the basis of partial symmetries, (2) construction of a symmetry theory for families of crystal structures consisting of layers and (3) definition ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Ordered Structure of The Epidermis

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1975
Recent reports on the ordered structure of the epidermis are reviewed. The regular relationship between Langerhans cells and cell columns in the mouse is not typical of the epidermis of other animals. The pattern of mitotic activity previously described in mouse epidermis has also been demonstrated in the hamster, which suggests control of keratinocyte
