Manipulating measurement scales in medical statistical analysis and data mining: A review of methodologies

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2014
Background: selecting the correct statistical test and data mining method depends highly on the measurement scale of data, type of variables, and purpose of the analysis.

Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

Assessing multivariate predictors of financial market movements: A latent factor framework for ordinal data

open access: yes, 2008
Much of the trading activity in Equity markets is directed to brokerage houses. In exchange they provide so-called "soft dollars," which basically are amounts spent in "research" for identifying profitable trading opportunities.

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

Ordinal Clustering with the flex-Scheme

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics
We investigate suitable methods for clustering multivariate ordinal data assuming that the data are collected in surveys with item batteries on the same ordinal answer format and that respondents are to be grouped to characterize different answering ...

Design of Safe and Efficient Adenine Base Editors via Protein Language Model Screening for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Base editors enable precise genome modification and have emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for correcting diseases caused by single‐nucleotide variants. While the current efficient version of adenine base editors (ABEs), such as ABE8e, exhibits exceptional efficiency for A‐to‐G conversions, their clinical translation is hindered by ...

Tailored Porous Bimetallic Nanozyme Platform for Full‐Cycle Therapeutics of Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury presents a biphasic pathology: an acute oxidative‐inflammatory phase leading to organ failure, and a recovery phase marked by mucosal dysfunction and bacterial translocation. The developed MPB@TA‐Cu‐Ma nanocomposite functions as a dual‐phase therapeutic platform with significant efficacy. It rapidly

Data‐Driven Modeling of Composition–Processing–Microstructure Relations for Recycled Aluminum Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interpretable machine learning reveals how composition and processing govern the formation and microstructural burden of Fe‐rich intermetallic compounds in recycled Al–Si–Fe–Mn alloys. By separating morphology selection from morphology‐conditioned burden partitioning, this framework shows that identical Fe contents can yield different intermetallic ...
