Normalized Ordinal Distance; A Performance Metric for Ordinal, Probabilistic-ordinal or Partial-ordinal Classification Problems

open access: yes, 2013
© 2015 by Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. In this chapter, a novel application-independent performance metric for ordinal, probabilistic-ordinal, and partial-ordinal classification problems is introduced. Conventional performance metrics for ordinal classification problems, such as mean absolute error of consecutive integer labels and ranked probability ...

The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Efficacy and Safety Analysis of Roxarestat in Regulating Renal Anemia in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of roxarestat versus recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) in the management of renal anemia in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods This was a prospective, open‐label, randomized controlled trial.

Ordinal compactness

open access: yesFilomat, 2020
We introduce a new covering property, defined in terms of order types of sequences of open sets, rather than in terms of cardinalities. The most general form depends on two ordinal parameters. Ordinal compactness turns out to be a much more varied notion than cardinal compactness.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Ordinal Classification: Working Definition and Detection of Ordinal Structures [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Ordinal classification (OC) is an important niche of supervised pattern recognition, in which the classes constitute an ordinal structure. In general, the ordinal structure can be identified, either according to the natural occurrence of the current task (e.g.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Transductive Ordinal Regression [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2012
Ordinal regression is commonly formulated as a multi-class problem with ordinal constraints. The challenge of designing accurate classifiers for ordinal regression generally increases with the number of classes involved, due to the large number of labeled patterns that are needed.
