The Two-Sided Factorization of Ordinary Differential Operators
Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1980Throughout this paper we shall use I to denote a given interval, not necessarily bounded, of real numbers and Cn to denote the real valued n times continuously differentiable functions on I and C0 will be abbreviated to C. By a differential operator of order n we shall mean a linear function L:Cn → C of the form1.1where pn(x) ≠ 0 for x ∊ I and pi ∊ Cj ...

On isomorphism of ordinary differential operators
Applicable Analysis, 2004The article deals with an ordinary linear differential operator L of even order 2m with constant coefficients which defines a natural mapping of the space to itself. The operator L is considered under an extra condition that its characteristic polynomial has no real roots and exactly m roots with strictly positive imaginary part. This work prepares the

Hypoelliptic ordinary differential operators
Israel Journal of Mathematics, 1972Necessary and sufficient conditions for the hypoellipticity of an ordinary differential operator withC ∞ coefficients in a neighborhood of a zero of finite order of the leading term are given. A sufficient condition for such an operator to be in a certain Hormander class is also given.

Transformations of Ordinary Differential Operators
1981Kummer-Liouville coordinate changes are presented for fourth order vector differential operators of the formally self-adjoint form. This study is preliminary to the development of canonical forms and transformation theory for linear fourth order partial differential operators.

Onn-Fold Expansions for Ordinary Differential Operators
Mathematische Nachrichten, 2002The authors apply results for abstract operator pencils (concerning \(n\)-fold expansions with respect to the eigen- and associated vectors of the pencil) to the differential equation \[ i^mu^{(m)} + p_1(x,\lambda)u^{(m-1)} +\dots + p_{m-1}(x,\lambda)u' + [p_m(x,\lambda) - \lambda^n]u = 0.

The Inverse Problem for Ordinary Differential Operators on the Line
American Journal of Mathematics, 1985In this interesting article the author investigates the linear differential operator (n\(\geq 2)\) \[ (1)\quad P=D^ n+q_{n-2}D^{n- 2}+...+q_ 0,\quad D=(1/i)d/dx \] \(q_ j\in L^ 1(R)\) for \(j=0,1,...,n-2\), being generally not self-adjoint. The inverse problem for the operator (1) on the line is the problem of determining the coefficients \(q_ 0,q_ 1,..

Semibounded Extensions of Singular Ordinary Differential Operators
Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1988AbstractThe self-adjoint extensions of the singular differential operator Ly = [(py’)’ + qy]/w, where p < 0, w > 0, q ≧ mw, are characterized under limit-circle conditions. It is shown that as long as the coefficients of certain boundary conditions define points which lie between two lines, the extension they help define has the same lower bound.
