Global Series and Stages for the Ordovician System: A Progress Report

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2005
There is no global standard set of chronostratigraphic/geochronologic subdivisions for the Ordovician System/Period. British series/epochs are often used as de facto nomenclature on stratigraphic correlation charts and geologic time scales. However, they

Microscopic Pore Structure Characteristics and Genesis of Low Resistivity Reservoirs: A Case Study of the Wufeng and Longmaxi Formations in the Changning Area, Sichuan Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
1. Organic matter graphitization forms highly conductive carbon networks, significantly reducing shale resistivity. 2. Major and trace elements further enhance conductivity through electron transfer and electrochemical reactions. ABSTRACT This study investigates the micro‐pore structure characteristics and genesis of low‐resistivity reservoirs in the ...

Numerical Simulations of Hydraulic Fracturing in Carbonate‐Type Hot Dry Rock Reservoirs Based on the Coupled Thermo‐Hydraulic‐Mechanical‐Damage (THMD) Model

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydraulic fracturing technology is widely used in Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) projects to induce fractures and enhance the permeability of thermal reservoirs. The hydraulic fracturing process of hot dry rock (HDR) is actually a multiphysics coupling process that couples the heat transfer field, seepage field, stress field, and damage ...

Ordovician conodonts of the Katkoyeh formation in the Kuh-e-Bonorg section, Kalmard Horst (west of Tabas) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2020
In this research, Ordovician conodonts obtained from the sedimentary succession of the informal Katkoyeh formation is studied in a stratigraphic section at the south of Kuh-e-Bonorg, eastern flank of Kalmard Anticline in the west of Tabas (Central Iran).

Multi‐Scale Evolution Mechanism of Water‐Conducting Fracture Zone in Deep‐Mining Hard Roof

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study addresses the significant discrepancies in traditional methods for predicting the height of water‐conducting fracture zones in deep‐mining hard roofs, which can lead to catastrophic water inrush events. The 110,504 working face of Banji Coal Mine was chosen as the research site to systematically investigate the development ...

Carbon Storage in Fold‐and‐Thrust Belts: An Overlooked Gigatonne Storage Opportunity

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents numerical investigations of the trapping characteristics of fold‐and‐thrust belt structures, defining three carbon capture and storage (CCS) play types that could be used to store commercial volumes (millions of tonnes) of CO2.

Research progress on marine oil and gas accumulation in Tarim Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2020
In recent years, great achievements have been made in the exploration of ultra-deep marine oil and gas in the Tarim Basin. New oil and gas discoveries have been achieved in the Shunbei Ordovician, Tazhong Cambrian and Tahe deep strata, which provide ...

Early Cretaceous–Late Miocene Basin–Mountains Pattern in the Northeastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau, NW China: Evidence From Detrital Zircon Chronology in the Lanzhou Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Using DZmix and DZstats models, we quantified the contributions of potential sources of the Lanzhou basin. Our findings indicate that the Cenozoic cooling and denudation signals primarily originated from Qilian and West Qinling, which were the main sediment sources.

Origins of the Pangkaimen Au Deposit in the Northern Great Xing'an Range, China: Evidence From Geochronological, Geochemical, Fluid Inclusion, and H–O–S–Pb Isotope Data

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The Pangkaimen Au–Ag deposits belong to the epithermal Au deposits, which are of great significance for guiding the research and development of this type of gold deposit. Metallogenic model diagram of Pangkaimen Au–Ag deposit. ABSTRACT The gold (Au) metallogenic belt in the northern Great Xing'an Range is characterised by the wide occurrence of the ...
