Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

Lithogenesis on peneplaned сontinented platform of Kazakhstan and Siberia during the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary epoch

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2019
Research subject. The inner structure, composition, and genesis of the poorly studied formation of weathering crusts are studied with reference to peneplaned platform territories in Kazakhstan and Siberia during the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary epoch ...

Ecological and economic aspects of resource provision of mining enterprise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mining companies use ore reserves incompletely, that is due to, on the one hand, unfavorable geological conditions of ore deposits occurrence, on the other – the low and slow-performing solution for complete and integrated use of existing ...

Post-depositional tectonic modifications of VMS deposits in Iberia and its economic significance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The original stratigraphic relationships and structure of VMS deposits are commonly obscured by deformation. This can also affect their economic significance, as shown by several Iberian Pyrite Belt (IPB, SW Iberia) examples.

Variable Temperature Studies of Two Calcium Uranates α‐Ca3UO6 and Ca2UO5

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The structures and thermal responses of the calcium uranates α‐Ca3UO6 and Ca2UO5 were investigated using in situ synchrotron x‐ray diffraction and neutron powder diffraction. Despite the very similar chemical compositions, the structural response of the two calcium uranates is shown to be complex and varied.

Hydrothermalismes anté-Hercynien en Sud-Ibérie : apport de la géochimie isotopique du plomb.

open access: yes, 2002
International audienceLead isotope study has been performed on massive sulphide deposits of Ossa-Morena and Aracena Belt (South Iberia). Results suggest the existence of at least two ancient hydrothermal events.

Tunable amylopectin graft copolymers for flocculating and dewatering iron ore tailings

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Polyacrylamide (PAM), the standard flocculant for mining tailings, often produces turbid supernatants and poorly dewatered sediments, limiting water reuse and tailings densification. We synthesized amylopectin‐graft‐poly[(2‐methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (AP‐g‐PMETAC) copolymers with systematically varied graft frequency (N =

The development of numerical forecasting systems of primary sources of gold on the results of placer sampling in the example Vagran placer cluster (North Urals)

open access: yesGeoresursy, 2020
Based on the results of field research, as well as data from stock reports, two types of placer gold were identified within the Vagran placer cluster, which are indicators of primary mineralization.

Geological and geotechnical challenges on the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe and their impact on hardrock pillar design

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is notable for its rich platinum group metal deposits but poses significant geological and geotechnical challenges due to its complex rock types and structural features. Traditional pillar design methods are insufficient for addressing these complexities; the study suggests incorporating advanced techniques such as machine ...
