Altruism in death: Attitudes to body and organ donation in Australian students

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, Volume 16, Issue 1, Page 27-46, January/February 2023., 2023
Abstract Health education, research, and training rely on the altruistic act of body donation for the supply of cadavers. Organ transplantation and research rely on donated organs. Supply of both is limited, with further restrictions in Australia due to requirements for a next‐of‐kin agreement to donation, irrespective of the deceased's pre‐death ...

Systems of donor transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The development of medical knowledge has resulted in a demand in society for donor organs, but the recruitment of donor organs for transplantation is difficult.

Therapeutic Delivery of circDYM by Perillyl Alcohol Nanoemulsion Alleviates LPS‐Induced Depressive‐Like Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PANEs are specifically designed to enhance the brain delivery efficiency of circDYM compared to commercialized lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Intranasal administration of PANE‐circDYM effectively alleviated LPS‐induced depressive‐like behaviors by mitigating neuroinflammation and promoting neuroplasticity.

Ex-vivo recruitment and x-ray assessment of donor lungs in a challenging retrieval from a donor supported by lvad using the portable normothermic perfusion system: A case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Lung transplantation (LTx) is limited by the shortage of suitable donors. To overcome this problem, many programs have begun to use donors with extended criteria (marginal donors).

TRIM25‐Mediated INSIG1 Ubiquitination Promotes MASH Progression Through Reprogramming Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRIM25‐mediated ubiquitination of INSIG1 serves as a key driver of lipid metabolism dysregulation in MASH progression. It identifies a novel small‐molecule inhibitor, C27H26N2O4S, which effectively inhibits TRIM25 activity, reducing lipid accumulation and inflammation.

An Auction-driven Self-organizing Cloud Delivery Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The three traditional cloud delivery models -- IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS -- constrain access to cloud resources by hiding their raw functionality and forcing us to use them indirectly via a restricted set of actions. Can we introduce a new delivery model, and, at the same time, support improved security, a higher degree of assurance, find relatively simple ...

Inhibiting the Histone Demethylase Kdm4a Restrains Cardiac Fibrosis After Myocardial Infarction by Promoting Autophagy in Premature Senescent Fibroblasts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Kdm4a downregulation restrains excessive cardiac interstitial fibrosis and remodeling by depressing the premature senescence of fibroblasts in the advanced stage after MI but does not affect early ventricular rupture. It verified that Kdm4a downregulation promotes autophagy in premature senescent fibroblasts by increasing the H3K9m3 modification of the

Fatal Donor-Derived Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Infection in a Combined Kidney-Pancreas Transplantation

open access: yesCase Reports in Transplantation, 2016
Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-KP) infections in solid organ transplant recipients are associated with high morbidity and mortality. We report a case of a fatal donor-derived CR-KP infection in a combined kidney-pancreas transplant. Given

Transplantation of Hearts Donated after Circulatory Death

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2018
Cardiac transplantation has become limited by a critical shortage of suitable organs from brain-dead donors. Reports describing the successful clinical transplantation of hearts donated after circulatory death (DCD) have recently emerged. Hearts from DCD
