Az Óbányai Aleurolit Formáció fekete palájának izotópgeokémiai és szénhidrogéngenetikai jellemzése | Isotope geochemistry and characterization of hydrocarbon potential of black shale from Óbánya Siltstone Formation

open access: yes, 2007
A toarci Óbányai Aleurolit Formáció réka-völgyi szelvényének (Mecsek hegység) alsó részéből gyűjtött fekete pala minták összes szerves szén-tartalma a laminált kőzettípusban 3,89–8,12%, a vékonyréteges változatban 2,14–3,29%.

Droughts and human impact in the ancient Uaymil region of the Maya lowlands inferred from a 2800‐year sedimentary archive at Lake Kaná, Mexico

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The relationship between the climate and societal transformation in Maya lowlands has long been debated, particularly the role of drought in shaping the civilization trajectory during the Classic Period. A high‐resolution, multi‐proxy, geochemical record from Lake Kaná, located in the underexplored Uaymil region of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico ...

Differences of Organic Matter Types of High Maturity Marine Organic-Rich Shale from Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation: Implication for Shale Gas “Sweet Spots” Prediction

open access: yes, 2023
Based on the identification of visual kerogen assessment, a subdivision method of organic matter types was proposed. Combined with GR curve, the distribution was further studied, the relationship between shale reservoir parameters and organic matter ...

Thorncliffe Formation: A proglacial to subglacial lacustrine basin sequence, Greater Toronto Region, Canada

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Map of Lower sediment (LS) thickness is a surrogate for the distribution of Thorncliffe Formation (TF) and ~75% of TF thickness from the slope of Niagara Escarpment east to Brighton. Inset images show the LS sequence at the Don Valleys brickyards (DVBY) and undeformed TF sand and gravel (~15 m) below Newmarket Till (NT) at sites L and Co.

The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.

Microstructural characterisation of organic-rich shale before and after pyrolysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Organic-rich shales, traditionally considered as source rocks, have recently become an ambitious goal for the oil and gas industry as important unconventional reservoirs. Understanding of the initiation and development of fractures in organic-rich shales

1D Basin Modelling of Upper Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous Source Rocks in the Southern Pletmos Sub‐Basin, Outeniqua Basin, Offshore South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Pletmos sub‐basin in the Outeniqua Basin, offshore South Africa, is divided by the Superior, Pletmos and Plettenberg faults into northern and southern depocentres. In this study, geological and organic geochemical data together with 1D basin modelling were used to investigate the burial, thermal and maturation histories, and the timing of ...

Study on the Influencing Factors of Oil Bearing and Mobility of Shale Reservoirs in the Fourth Member of the Shahejie Formation in the Liaohe Western Depression

open access: yesEnergies
Oil content and the movability of shale oil are important indicators for the evaluation of continental shale oil. In recent years, the sandwiched shale oil in the fourth member of the Shahejie Formation in the Liaohe Western Depression area of the Bohai ...

The origin and evolution of thermogenic gases in organic-rich marine shales

open access: yes, 2016
In order to better understand the generation and primary source of mature thermogenic gas in shale, and to evaluate the residual gas generation potential of the shale at different maturity levels, we performed pyrolysis experiments on an organic-rich ...
