Origin and carbon isotope reversal of shale gas in Wufeng-Longmaxi formations, Sichuan Basin: implication from pyrolysis experiments

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2020
The Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in the Sichuan Basin is the only stratum in China to realize commercial development of shale gas. There are some differences in shale gas generation and a lack of direct experimental evidence of the reasons for these differences.

Fracture Mechanisms in Organic-Rich Shales: Role of Kerogen [PDF]

open access: yesPoromechanics V, 2013
In this work we study role of kerogen in the fracture properties of organic-rich shales and, in particular, in the ductility of shales. The presence of kerogen and clays in shale is known to increase the ductility. We propose here a multiscale approach to develop a fine understanding of shale ductility from the molecular scale.

The depositional settings of organic-rich shale in the faulted lacustrine basin: A case study of the Y1 Member of the Yingcheng Formation in the Songliao Basin [PDF]

open access: yesOil Shale
Volcanic activity is often associated with the development of faulted lacustrine basins. Organic-rich shale in such basins usually contains abundant volcanic material.
