Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Assessing Factors Controlling Structural Changes of Humic Acids in Soils Amended with Organic Materials to Improve Soil Functionality

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Humic acids (HAs) regulate soil chemical reactivity and improve many soil functions. The amendment of soil with organic materials increases soil organic matter (SOM) content and promotes the formation of HAs.

Dynamic Shifts in ER–Plasma Membrane Junctions Signaling Define Pro‐Metastatic N‐Glycosylation and Predict Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

The Effect of Different Organic Fertilizers on Yield and Soil and Crop Nutrient Concentrations

open access: yesAgronomy, 2019
At present, organic fertilizers are not widely used in intensive arable agriculture, and not much is known about their effects on crop nutrition. In a field experiment at Rothamsted, UK, anaerobic digestate (AD), compost, farmyard manure (FYM), straw ...

Impacts of biochar amendment and straw incorporation on soil heterotrophic respiration and desorption of soil organic carbon

open access: yesGeoscience Letters, 2023
While biochar amendment and straw incorporation in soil have received great attention due to the potential of carbon sequestration and improvements in soil physicochemical properties, there were limited studies addressing their impacts on soil ...

Immobilization of toxic metal cations on goethite-amended soils: a remediation strategy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2016
The study investigates a simple and viable option to reduce toxic metals mobility and availability in four surface (0–30cm) soils with varying physicochemical properties amended by different percentages of goethite.

Differential responses of soil nitrogen‐oxide emissions to organic substitution for synthetic fertilizer and biochar amendment in a subtropical tea plantation

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, 2021
Tropical and subtropical acidic soils have been well documented as hotspots of global soil nitrogen (N) oxide (i.e., nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitric oxide (NO) emissions).
