Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Heterogeneous PMO@MXene nanocomposite: a robust and efficient nanocatalyst for two-component synthesis of highly substituted 2-(aryl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole derivatives

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this work, a novel MXene-based nanocomposite, denoted as PMO@MXene, was synthesized for the first time and successfully applied as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst in the green synthesis of 2-(aryl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole derivatives.

Influence of Ce(IV) ions amount on the electrochemical behavior of hybrid films in 0.1 mol L-1 NaCl solution

open access: yesEclética Química, 2019
In this work, the influence of ceric ions (Ce(SO4)2) addition to the hydrolysis solution on the corrosion protection afforded by organic-inorganic hybrid coating obtained from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and 3-methacryloxy-propyl-trimethoxysilane (MPTS) to ...

A Novel Multilayer Natural Coating for Fed-State Gastric Protection

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Several nutraceutical products require gastric protection against the hostile environment in the stomach. Currently marketed synthetic and semi-synthetic coatings suffer from major shortcomings such as poor gastric protection, slow-release response to pH

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
