A statistical study into parameter effects on the coverage of organic coatings on rounded steel edges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
S.186-194The relationships between edge rounding parameters and edge coverage of organic coating systems are systematically investigated. Three organic coating systems for highly corrosive environments are tested.

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Relationship between carrier density and corrosion behavior of acrylic polyurethane coated galvanized steel system in 3.5% NaCl solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
Carrier density (CD) was adopted to investigate the corrosion process of acrylic polyurethane-coated galvanized steel in 3.5% NaCl solution by using the Mott-Schottky (M-S) analysis technique.

Ultrasound−assisted sealing with different sealants for enhanced corrosion protection of HVOF−sprayed WC−Cr3C2−Ni/CNTs coating in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
High−velocity oxygen−fuel (HVOF) sprayed WC−Cr3C2−Ni/CNTs coatings were prepared on 430 stainless steel, and then were sealed with sol–gel aluminum phosphate (inorganic sealant) and silicone resin (organic sealant) by ultrasound−assisted sealing ...

A spectroscopic study of the degradation of polyurethane coil coatings. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
PhDThe degradation of polyurethane (PU) coil coatings were studied with step scan phase modulation photo-acoustic (SS-PM-PA) FTIR, confocal Raman mapping (CRM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). PU coatings were oven cured for 30 seconds to reach

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Investigation the Deterioration Process of Organic Coating Using Changing Rate of Phase Angle at High Frequency United to Neural Network

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of an organic coating system in 3.5% NaCl solution was measured and a new parameter k(f) named changing rate of phase angle at high frequency is extracted directly from Bode plots.

Migration and segregation phenomena of a silicone additive in a multilayer organic coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The migration and segregation of a minor silicone containing additive in a multilayer, organic coating system has been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS).

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...
