Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Biochar coating potential to suppress storage diseases in carrots and potatoes (CHARCOAT) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Can biochar coating decrease diseases severity during potato and carrot storage? Biochar is a carbon rich material used to improve soils’ quality. Recently, biochar has also been found to suppress plant diseases caused by foliar and soil borne pathogens.

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Durability of AZ31 magnesium biodegradable alloys polydopamine aided: Part 1

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2017
The use of magnesium alloys, as a biodegradable medical device, is an interesting challenge for the biomaterials field. Its rapid degradation and the release of hydrogen, when exposed to biological fluids, are the main drawbacks for clinical applications.

Effect of different surface preparations prior to painting on the corrosion behaviour and surface activity of mild steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Previous work in our laboratory showed that the type of surface preparation of the steel prior to coating had a dramatic effect on the subsequent corrosion protection afforded in immersion tests and in salt spray testing.

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...
