Analysis of volatile organic compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
An apparatus and method are described for reproducibly analyzing trace amounts of a large number of organic volatiles existing in a gas sample.

Large sulfur isotope fractionations in Martian sediments at Gale crater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Variability in the sulfur isotopic composition in sediments can reflect atmospheric, geologic and biological processes. Evidence for ancient fluvio-lacustrine environments at Gale crater on Mars and a lack of efficient crustal recycling mechanisms on the

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Prediction of the ORC Working Fluid’s Temperature-Entropy Saturation Boundary Using Redlich-Kwong Equation of State

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
The shape of the working fluid’s temperature-entropy saturation boundary has a strong influence, not only on the process parameters and efficiency of the Organic Rankine Cycle, but also on the design (the layout) of the equipment.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Determinação voltamétrica de metais em águas e fluidos biológicos empregando mineralização de amostras com radiação ultravioleta Voltammetric determination of metals in waters and biological fluids using sample mineralization with ultraviolet radiation

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2008
This work describes the optimization of pretreatment steps for the destruction of organic matter in samples of waters and biological fluids, by using an UV irradiation system with a high power UV radiation source (400 W).

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Organic, Gas, and Element Geochemistry of Hydrothermal Fluids of the Newly Discovered Extensive Hydrothermal Area in the Wallis and Futuna Region (SW Pacific)

open access: yesGeofluids, 2018
Two newly discovered hydrothermal vent fields of the Wallis and Futuna region, Kulo Lasi and Fatu Kapa, were sampled for fluid geochemistry. A great geochemical diversity was observed and assigned to the diversity of lithologies as well as the occurrence
