Salt Water Drops Slide Faster: Ionic Modulation of Drop Friction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Salt ions markedly accelerate water drops on conductive substrates coated with nanometer‐thin hydrophobic layers. Across diverse electrolytes and surfaces, higher ion concentration consistently lowers kinetic friction by reducing contact angle hysteresis.

Marine organisms as sources of C4-weed-specific herbicides. [PDF]

open access: yesPesticide Outlook, 2000
Imagine that you are a plant propagule looking for a home. You find a nice warm sunny place where the nutrients wash over you and think that you have arrived in paradise. And, what is more, there are few other plants with which to compete. However there are many animals close by in the form of corals and sponges and a variety of animals which make up ...

A Scoping Review of Nudges for Enhancing Agricultural Policy

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Following PRISMA guidelines, we conduct a scoping review on 18 empirical studies on nudging interventions for farmers in Europe and the USA. The evidence on the effectiveness of nudges is mixed. Some studies demonstrate positive outcomes, particularly when nudges are combined with other interventions; others report no effect or negative ...

Probleme bei der Unkrautbekämpfung in einem Gebiet mit hohen Abundanzen von Ambrosia artemisiifolia und Möglichkeiten der Reduzierung der Beifuß- Ambrosie in dieser Region

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2014
A distribution area of common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) is situated in the south of Brandenburg. The weed species appears in arable fields and at roadsides. In some fields herbicide application is required due to the high frequency of weed plants.
