Ecotoxicological Evaluation of Organic Sunscreens Used Worldwide, Alone and in Mixture, on Terrestrial Plants

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The environmental hazards of sunscreens are discussed worldwide. However, there are few ecotoxicological studies on these compounds alone for edaphic organisms, and none for their mixtures. Avobenzone (1 and 10 ng/L), octocrylene (10 and 100 μg/L), and oxybenzone (2 and 20 μg/L), alone and in binary combinations (between the lowest and the ...

Influence of effluent particles and particle-bound micropollutants on the removal of micropollutants and UVA254 in wastewater effluent ozonation

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
This study systematically investigated the influence of effluent particles and activated sludge (AS) particles on the removal of micropollutants via wastewater effluent ozonation within typical effluent total suspended solids (TSS) concentrations.

Interdependent policy instrument preferences: a two-mode network approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In policymaking, actors are likely to take the preferences of others into account when strategically positioning themselves. However, there is a lack of research that conceives of policy preferences as an interdependent system.

Exploring the Impact of Polystyrene Microplastic Beads on Male Gonads of the Marine Mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plastic, with its remarkable versatility and numerous applications, has greatly benefited humanity. However, its extreme resistance to natural degradation means it persists in the environment for long periods, causing global environmental problems.

Multi-residue analysis of pharmaceuticals in Belgian surface water : a novel screening-to-quantification approach using large-volume injection liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ever growing number of emerging micropollutants such as pharmaceuticals requests rapid and sensitive full-spectrum analytical techniques. Time-of-flight highresolution mass spectrometry (TOF-HRMS) is a promising alternative for the state-ofthe- art ...

Atmospheric Deposition of Organic Pollutants: A Comprehensive Review of Sampling and Analytical Methodologies

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Atmospheric deposition of organic pollutants plays a crucial role in the transport and fate of contaminants in the environment, with implications for ecosystem health and human exposure. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and microplastics are increasingly recognized as transboundary threats due to ...

Simultaneous nanocatalytic surface activation of pollutants and oxidants for highly efficient water decontamination

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Removal of organic micropollutants from water through advanced oxidation processes is hampered by the excessive input of energy and/or chemicals as well as the large amounts of residuals resulting from incomplete mineralization.

Removal of Steroid Hormone Micropollutants by an Electrochemical Carbon Nanotube Membrane Flow‐Through Reactor: Role of Concentration and Degradation Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 11, 5 February 2026.
A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.
