New insight into the reactivity of Mn(III) in bisulfite/permanganate for organic compounds oxidation: The catalytic role of bisulfite and oxygen.

Water Research, 2019
A recently discovered bisulfite(HSO3-)/permanganate(MnO4-) system was reported to produce highly reactive free Mn(III) that can oxidize organic compounds in milliseconds.

Catalysts for the determination of oxygen in organic compounds

Mikrochimica Acta, 1980
Thermal decomposition of metal-organic complexes of nickel, cobalt and iron has given catalysts which are very effective at about 900° for the conversion of carbon dioxide, water and other oxygencontaining sample decomposition products to carbon monoxide in the direct determination of oxygen in organic compounds when using a modified Unterzaucher type ...

A method for the determination of the O18 concentration of the oxygen of organic compounds

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1956
Oxygen-containing organic compounds can be oxidized to yield CO2 by HgCl2 (or Cu2Cl2 or Cl2) at 360–530°C. The carbon dioxide formed in this reaction has the same O18 concentration as the original compound. This procedure has been tested and found to give the correct result on glucose, arginine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, benzamide, N-dinitrophenyl ...

Occurrence of Oxygenated Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in Antarctica

International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 1996
Polar and non-polar VOC present in six different sites located near Terra Nova Bay in Antarctica were determined by HRGC-MS. 76 different components were positively identified. Among them, particularly important are oxygenated components (free acids, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, esters, ethers and furanes) as they account for the largest portion of ...

ZnO Nanosheets Abundant in Oxygen Vacancies Derived from Metal‐Organic Frameworks for ppb‐Level Gas Sensing

Advances in Materials, 2019
Surmounting the inhomogeniety issue of gas sensors and realizing their reproducible ppb‐level gas sensing are highly desirable for widespread deployments of sensors to build networks in applications of industrial safety and indoor/outdoor air quality ...

The isotopic analysis of oxygen in organic compounds and in co-ordination compounds containing organic ligands

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1965
Abstract An apparatus has been developed for the pyrolysis of oxygen-containing organic compounds and co-ordination compounds with organic ligands. The oxygen is obtained as carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide for mass spectrometric analysis. If necessary, carbon monoxide can be converted to carbon dioxide by an electric discharge.

Selective de‐oxygenation of organic compounds

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1996
AbstractIn this paper, recent results on the de‐oxygenation of some organic molecules nitrobenzene, aliphatic carboxylic acids and benzoic acid are reviewed. The activity pattern of metal oxides in these reactions has been established, and several factors controlling the selectivity have been identified.

An automatic analyzer for the microdetermination of oxygen in organic compounds

Microchemical Journal, 1963
Abstract An automatic, highly accurate and simply operated direct oxygen apparatus and method are described. The double carbon packing is maintained at 920 °C, which lengthens the life of the furnace coil considerably. The procedure uses 2–10 mg samples with semi-skilled techniques, is capable of accuracy to ±0.3%, and permits a complete oxygen assay

Controlled oxidation of organic compounds in oxygen plasma

Vacuum, 2003
Abstract The etching of different polymers versus the dose of neutral oxygen atoms was measured in an oxygen plasma post-glow reactor. The source of neutral oxygen atoms was an inductively coupled RF oxygen plasma with an electron temperature of 5 eV and a density of about 10 16  m −3 .

Micro and trace determination of oxygen in organic compounds

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1978
Abstract Samples are pyrolyzed over carbon in helium doped with chloropentane, which enhances the liberation of the oxygen. The carbon monoxide formed is determined by gas chromatography. A modification of a Carlo Erba CHN+O Elemental Analyzer is described, and results of micro and trace determinations in organic and inorganic compounds are reported.
