Thermo-economic Comparison of Advanced Organic Rankine Cycles [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2014
AbstractTo improve the performances of the Organic Rankine cycle, several advanced cycle designs are proposed. Because different studies use varying boundary conditions, an assessment of the benefit of the cycle designs is complicated. Furthermore, the inclusion of economic parameters is valuable for a sound comparison.

Integrated Flue‐Gas Heat Recovery for Optimized Steam and Power Generation Using Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC): A Technical and Economic Assessment

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 2499-2513, May 2026.
Integration of a steam cycle with an existing gas turbine increased efficiency from 32% to 51%, reducing fuel consumption by 21.4% and CO2 emissions by 18.6%. The modification generated USD 13.9 million annual savings and lowered the Levelized Cost of Energy to 38.7 USD/MWh, with a 3‐year payback.

Water Mixtures as Working Fluids in Organic Rankine Cycles [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This work explores the possibility to adopt in organic Rankine cycle (ORC) plants mixtures of water (acting as solvent) plus an organic compound (acting as solute) as the working fluid. Initially an evaluation of the thermodynamic properties of the mixtures is performed, in order to assess their properties, and to point out the molar fractions which ...

Modeling and Experimental Study of a Dual‐Receiver Parabolic Solar Concentrator for Direct Electricity Generation and Thermal Storage for Isolated Sites

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 2206-2224, April 2026.
Approximately 64% of the population in sub‐Saharan Africa lacks access to electricity, despite the region's high solar potential, making concentrated solar power a promising solution for decentralized and sustainable energy supply. This study presents the design, construction, and testing of a parabolic solar concentrator with two focal‐point receivers
