A setup for measuring the scintillation parameters of liquid organic scintillators

Journal of Instrumentation
Abstract Setups have been developed and constructed to study the main scintillation properties, such as light yield and emission kinetics, of liquid organic scintillators used in neutrino physics and astroparticle physics experiments. The measurement results of the main characteristics of these setups are presented in this work.

Gamma calibration of organic scintillators

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989
Abstract The electron light responses of three organic scintillator detectors – a stilbene (3.81 × 1.27 cm2) and two NE102A (5.0 × 2.5 cm2 and 5.0 × 7.6 cm2) — were systematically studied by means of a set of gamma sources. The edge maximum and half-height point energies of the Compton distributions have been determined by the use of a fast/slow ...

Rise time of scintillation emission in inorganic and organic scintillators

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1997
Abstract Theoretical aspects of the rise time of the scintillation in inorganic and organic scintillators and the dependence on the particle energy are discussed. The results are compared with published experimental data.

The Scintillation Process in Organic Systems

IRE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1960
The scintillation process in organi: crystals and solutions is described, and a mechanism is proposed to account for the origin of the fast and slow scintillation components. The intermolecular energy migration and transfer processes in pure and mixed crystals and in plastic and liquid solutions are discussed quantitatively, and the influence of ...

The Origin of Scintillations in Organic Materials

IRE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1960
Calculations of the energy expended by a charged particle in producing optical excitation of molecules of the scintillator indicate the possibility that most of the energy emitted as light during a scintillation may stem, either directly or via intermolecular transfer, from molecules excited in this way.
