Microdetermination of sulfur in organic compounds
EDTAは,PC指示薬のもとにBa2+と定量的に結合し安定な錯塩を生成するので,これを有機元素分析に応用し種々の条件を検討の結果,その微量化も可能なことがわかった.そこでEDTAによるキレート滴定法と燃焼法による連続ガス吸収装置を有機化合物中の硫黄の定量に応用し,微量分析の許容誤差でその目的を達し得た.ガス吸収には,蒸留水と過酸化水素の二連吸収方式を用い,さらにジョイント結合による吸収装置を考案して連続操作を可能にし,分析能率をいちじるしく向上させた.本定量を各種の有機化合物に応用した結果,満足すべき精度で定量できた.

Bacteriostatic Acitivity of Organic Sulfur Compounds
以上の結果を考察して見ると,P. S. A.は低濃度に於てはE. coliのlag timeを増大するものである. CAVALLITO等の説の如くP. S. A.はP. A. B. A.により拮抗されず,又disulfideによつても拮抗されない. P. S. A.はcysteineにより完全にその作用を阻止される.即ちP. S. A. 1 moleに対しcysteine 1 moleを加えた場合にはcysteineの作用は見るべきものがないが, cysteine 2 molesを加えた場合には完全にその作用は中絶され以後normalな増殖を行う. CAVALLITO等によればP. S. A.とcysteineとの反応には次に示す如く2法が考えられる.
