Higher Bioavailability of Organic Bound Zinc from High Zinc-Enriched Fungi

International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research, 2014
Abstract. The organic forms of trace elements are considered more bioavailable than the inorganic forms. Although yeast can enrich metal elements and convert inorganic zinc to organic species, its tolerability and transforming capacity are limited. It would therefore be very interesting to look for higher conversion and accumulation in zinc fungi to ...

Directed Spatial Organization of Zinc Oxide Nanorods

Nano Letters, 2004
The ability to precisely place nanomaterials at predetermined locations is necessary for realizing applications using these new materials. Using an organic template, we demonstrate directed growth of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods on silver films from aqueous solution.

Genomic Organization of the Zinc-Endopeptidase Astacin

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1997
The crayfish digestive protease astacin is the first described member of the astacin family of zinc-endopeptidases, for which it is regarded as a prototype. We have isolated and characterized the genomic sequence of astacin which spans a region of 2616 bp. The coding sequence is distributed over five exons and is interrupted by four introns.

ZnT3: a zinc transporter active in several organs

BioMetals, 2011
The review collects the emerging information about zinc transporter 3 (ZnT3). ZnT3 has been associated with Alzheimer's disease, airway diseases and diabetes. ZnT3 was discovered and cloned in 1996. Since then, the major interest in the protein has been in its ability to transport zinc into pre-synaptic vesicles of glutamatergic neurones and its role ...

Organic additives in zinc electroplating

Electrodeposition and Surface Treatment, 1975
Abstract The use of organic additives in zinc electroplating is reviewed with particular emphasis on the types of compounds used, the bath type for which they are most suited, and their function with respect to brightening and levelling action. Fundamental studies of the mode of action of these additives are also reviewed and comparisons are made ...

Self-organized hierarchical zinc phosphide nanoribbon–zinc sulfide nanowire heterostructures

CrystEngComm, 2011
Hierarchical Zn3P2 nanoribbon–ZnS nanowire heterostructures were synthesized by simple thermal evaporation of the mixture of ZnS and InP powders. Studies found that the synthesized hierarchical heterostructures consisted of single crystalline Zn3P2 nanoribbons with numerous single crystalline [0001]-oriented ZnS nanowires grown perpendicular to the ...
