Topographic and Climatic Determinants of Soil Organic Carbon Across Landscapes: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The soil is the greatest natural store of organic carbon, holding between 1500 to 1550 Pg C of organic carbon at the top 100 cm of the soil globally—roughly twice the carbon pool in the atmosphere. The spatial distribution of this stock is controlled by a complex chain of controls: topographic position regulates the hydrological redistribution,

Effects of Organic Fertilizer Substitutions on Latex Yield and Soil Fertility in Hevea brasiliensis Plantations: A Case Study in Southern Philippines

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rubber plantations can be a major source of income for small landholder farmers in rural communities across Southern Asia. However, rising fertilizer costs and progressive soil degradation threaten long‐term productivity and economic viability.

Erratum to: First evidence for a stereoselective incorporation of nonylphenol diastereomers in soil-derived organo-clay complexes [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Chemistry Letters, 2011
Environmental processes can affect the stereochemical properties of organic pollutants. In particular, biotic processes like microbial transformations or membrane penetration alter the ratios of enantiomers as well as diastereomers. These effects have been intensively used not only in environmental studies but also in medicine, toxicology, pharmacy ...

A STUDY OF CLAY-EPOXY NANOCOMPOSITES CONSISTING OF UNMODIFIED CLAY AND ORGANO CLAY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Clay-epoxy nanocomposites were synthesized from DGEBA resin and montmorillonite clay with an in-situ polymerization. One type of untreated clay and two types of organo clay were used to produce the nanocompsoites.

Investigation of the Mechanical, Thermal, and Morphological Properties of ABS Composite Reinforced With Bentonite and DEHPA‐Modified Bentonite

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 1505-1517, 15 March 2025.
Mechanical and thermal properties of ABS/Bentonite/DEHPA composites. ABSTRACT This study investigates the mechanical, thermal, and surface characteristics of acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS) composites reinforced with bentonite and bis(2‐ethylhexyl) phosphate (DEHPA)‐modified bentonite.

Bioaccessibility of Metal(loid)s From Anthropogenic Contamination in Dry Riverbed Sediments in the Cartagena–La Unión Mining District (Murcia, SE Spain): Implications for Human Health Risk Assessment

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study assessed the contamination levels, bioaccessibility, and potential health risks of As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn in sediments from three dry riverbeds (El Beal‐EB, Las Matildes‐LM, and Ponce‐PN) impacted by historical mining activities in the Cartagena‐La Unión Mining District.

Drought and soil macrofauna functional diversity effects on Mediterranean tree growth in an Ecotron ecosystem experiment

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The intensity, frequency and severity of drought events are projected to increase in the Mediterranean region under ongoing climate change. This may impact plant growth and survival in Mediterranean forests leading to altered ecosystem dynamics. The functional diversity

Slow‐release peat‐urea fertilizer increased sweet corn yield and nitrogen use efficiency compared to urea

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract Nitrogen (N) use efficiency of urea is often low, resulting in inefficient N utilization. Again, peat, a high organic carbon (OC)‐containing soil, is considered a problematic soil. However, enriching peat with urea may release fertilizer N slowly, and its application to agricultural soil can sequester OC in the soil.
