Organochlorine Pesticides

2016
Organic molecules are those that have carbon atoms serving as the backbone or major structural component of the molecule. The simplest group of organic molecules are hydrocarbons that contain only carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The carbons in these hydrocarbons can be arranged in straight lines and are called aliphatics (eg, ethane or pentane), or they ...

Temporal Bioavailability of Organochlorine Pesticides and PCBs

Environmental Science & Technology, 2006
Because PCBs and organochlorine pesticides continue to be of global concern, studies that address information gaps, such as factors and influences of spatial and temporal effects on contaminant bioavailability, are valuable. The present study focused on the spatial and temporal distribution of bioavailable organochlorine pesticides and PCBs in surface ...

Persistent organochlorine pesticides in Mexican butter

Food Additives and Contaminants, 2003
Organochlorine pesticides have been used in Mexico in malaria control programmes against ectoparasites and as seed dresser. Owing to their chemical stability, they tend to accumulate in the lipid part of the organisms. The stored pesticides are excreted with the endogenous fat during milk production.

Atmospheric burden of organochlorine pesticides in Ghana

Chemosphere, 2014
Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) are subject to the Stockholm Convention on POPs and have been banned or restricted globally. In Ghana, concerns of illicit applications of some OCPs have been raised in recent times. Applying polyurethane foam (PUF) disk passive air samplers (PAS), the levels of OCPs in the atmosphere and their spatial resolution were ...

The Coming of the Organochlorine Pesticide

2018
This chapter deals with the extensive poisoning of the environment to exterminate mhesvi. Given the massive amounts of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) dumped into the environment to kill mhesvi, OCPs present an opportunity to explore the question of pollution and its health effects. The chapter introduces and accounts for the specific circumstances by

Organochlorine Pesticides in the Atmospheric Environment

Nature, 1965
POLLUTION of the environment has long been a subject of public concern and much attention has been paid recently to the new ecological factors introduced by the wide agricultural usage of pesticidal chemicals. Contamination of soil and crops has often featured in environmental studies of these pesticides, but so far little attention has been given to ...
