Organochlorine Pesticides in Rainwater in the British Isles
Nature, 1968PREVIOUS studies of the presence of the persistent organochlorine pesticides in the atmospheric environment of this country1ā3 have all indicated the need for more comprehensive surveys. The first of these studies by Wheatley and Hardman1 was confined to rainwater collected in the rural area of Wellesbourne, in Warwickshire.

The neurotoxicity of organochlorine and pyrethroid pesticides
2015Organochlorine and pyrethroid compounds represent an old and a new class, respectively, of insecticides. Organochlorines such as DDT, dieldrin, or chlordecone, have been banned, primarily because of environmental issues. DDT is still used in certain countries to fight malaria-bearing mosquitoes, while lindane still finds some limited used against head ...

Organochlorine Pesticides in the Soil in Linfen, China
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2008Ten soil samples collected in Linfen were analyzed for 21 organochlorine pesticides. The concentration of total organochlorine pesticides ranged from 4.3 to 23.2 ng g(-1) in soil from urban areas and from 26.3 to 247.4 ng g(-1) in soil from industrial plants.

Chiral organochlorine pesticides in the atmosphere
Atmospheric Environment, 2007Abstract We measured the enantiomeric fractions (EF) of various organochlorine pesticides in air samples from Indiana, Arkansas, and Louisiana collected in 2002ā2003. Enantiomeric fractions for o,pā² -DDD are reported here for the first time, and they suggest preferential depletion of one enantiomer over the other, with a mean value of 0.44.

Residues of organochlorine pesticides in fishes in Sudan
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 1980Cotton-producing areas of the Central Sudan, bordered by the Blue and the White Nile, have been subjected to repeated applications of pesticides. This region is irrigated by a series of canals, the Gezira canals, which hold large amounts of fresh water. Lake Nubia at the Sudan-Egypt border is another important fresh water reservoir and fisheries ground.

Relationship of Organochlorine Pesticides to Parkinsonism
2000Anecdotal reports and several epidemiological studies have pointed to pesticide exposure as a risk factor for Parkinsons Disease (PD). We have reviewed the evidence in the literature and from our laboratory which suggests that organochlorine compounds are the most likely class of pesticide capable of inducing parkinsonism.
