New alternatives in photoprotection: Preparation and evaluation of lamellar silicate derivatives and their use as sunscreens

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 48, Issue 1, Page 172-185, February 2026.
The use of nanotechnology in sunscreens has increased, with various filters and organoclays tested for new intercalated formulations. As animal toxicity tests decrease, New Approach Methodologies are favoured. The S4 + OMC‐NC improved cell survival under SSL and showed antimutagenic properties, making it a promising candidate for safe photoprotection ...

Effect of Surface Modified Halloysite Nanotubes (HNTs) on Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polylactic Acid/HNTs Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
In this study, polylactic acid (PLA) nanocomposites reinforced with halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were fabricated via melt extrusion followed by compression molding. Surface modification of HNTs was conducted using polyethyleneimine (PEI) and PN40 to improve interfacial interaction and dispersion of HNTs within the PLA matrix.

Mechanical Recycling of Silicone Rubber: Influence of Particle Size and Quantity

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 65, Issue 11, Page 6207-6216, November 2025.
Silicone rubbers of three different hardnesses were ground into particles and used as fillers in a liquid silicone rubber matrix, whereby the particle size and quantity varied. The mechanical properties were only slightly altered by the addition of ground particles and showed the general possibility of mechanical silicone recycling.
