A Critical Overview of Common Foodborne Toxicants and Methods for Their Reliable Detection

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 4, Page 1658-1700, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Food is an essential commodity for human health. However, toxicants such as mycotoxins, heavy metals, acrylamide, and pesticides can be present in food either naturally or through processing, packaging, or some anthropogenic activities. A thorough review of carefully selected studies revealed that climate change and pandemics have led to an ...

Underlining the Molecular Mechanism of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Coronary Artery Disease in Lipid Metabolism by Combining Multiple Sets of Data Sets

open access: yesIUBMB Life, Volume 77, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is closely associated with coronary artery disease (CAD); however, their shared genetic traits and molecular mechanisms in lipid metabolism remain unclear. In this study, we identified that the differentially expressed genes in NAFLD and CAD intersected with lipid metabolism genes to obtain three key ...

Carvacrol Coadministration Ameliorates Lambda‐Cyhalothrin‐Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Rats: Behavioral and Molecular Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2025.
This study investigates the peripheral neuropathy induced by the pesticide Lambda‐cyhalothrin (CYH) and how carvacrol (CRV) treatment reduces these effects. CYH causes neurological disorders, oxidative stress, and inflammation, while CRV reverses these harmful effects with its antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties.

Light‐Activated Pharmacological Tools for Exploring the Cholinergic System

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 4, Page 1251-1274, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Cholinergic transmission plays a critical role in both the central and peripheral nervous systems, affecting processes such as learning, memory, and inflammation. Conventional cholinergic drugs generally suffer from poor selectivity and temporal precision, leading to undesired effects and limited therapeutic efficacy. Photopharmacology aims to
