Improving the economy of lignocellulose-based biorefineries with organosolv pretreatment
Lignocellulose-based processes for production of value-added products still face bottlenecks to attain feasibility. The key might lie on the biorefining of all lignocellulose main polymers, that is, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Lignin, considered

Bioresource Technology, 2023
The valorization of organosolv pretreatment (OP) is a required approach to the industrialization of the current enzyme-mediated lignocellulosic biorefinery. Recent literature has demonstrated that the solvolysis happening in the OP can modify the soluble components into value-added active compounds, namely organosolv modified lignin (OML) and ...

Organosolv Pretreatment of Sorghum Stalks Using Glycerol
2021Glycerol is a promising low-cost solvent for biomass pretreatment since a large amount of glycerol is generated as a by-product in the biodiesel industry. Pretreatment is a method of disintegration of the recalcitrant structure of biomass to enhance the accessibility of cellulose and hemicelluloses to enzymes for complete saccharification.

Optimization of lignin extraction from bamboo by ultrasound-assisted organosolv pretreatment
Bioresource Technology, 2023For a sustainable biorefinery, reduction in the recalcitrance of lignocellulosic biomass is very crucial for the efficient utilization of each fraction. The present work investigated an integrated pretreatment method to recover high-quality lignin along with the cellulose-rich pulp.

Pretreatment and Fractionation of Wheat Straw by Organosolv in Biphasic System
2019In this work we investigated the pretreatment of wheat straw in a biphasic system constituted by an organic solvent (butanol) and oxalic acid solution. The pretreatments were carried out in a 300 mL Parr reactor at total solid load of 5 wt%; temperature 140-180 °C, time 30-90 min and load of oxalic acid 0-10%.
