Organosolv Pulping and Handsheet Properties of Acacia Hybrid

2019
Acacia hybrid is one of the fast growing timber plantation species that is worth investing in to overcome the shortage of wood supply as the demand for wood production keeps increasing from year to year. This chapter aims to highlight the potential of Acacia hybrid as a fiber source for organosolv pulping to address concerns related to pulping methods ...

Soda–anthraquinone, kraft and organosolv pulping of holm oak trimmings

Bioresource Technology, 2006
The operating conditions for an organosolv (ethyleneglycol) and two alkaline (soda-anthraquinone and kraft) processes for obtaining cellulose pulp and paper from holm oak (Quercus ilex) wood trimmings were optimized. A range of variation for each process variable (viz.

Polyhydric Alcohol Pulping at Atmospheric Pressure: An Effective Method for Organosolv Pulping of Softwoods

Holzforschung, 1999
Summary Polyhydric alcohol pulping was developed to separate components of low-quality softwoods that are produced by thinning and improvement cutting as well as to establish a self-supporting pulping system. Propylene glycol (PG) was superior to ethylene glycol (EG) as solvent for polyhydric alcohol pulping at atmospheric pressure.

Organosolv delignification of southern pine – an alternative pulping process

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 1988
AbstractAqueous ethylenediamine‐ethanol‐anthraquinone (EDA‐EtOH‐AQ) pulping of Southern Yellow Pine was studied for lignin removal and pulp yield. Temperature, time and ethylenediamine concentration in the solvent solution were studied and equations for lignin content and lignin‐free yield were developed.

The Properties of Organosolv Pulp and Cellulose from Eucalyptus with MK2

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In order to decline the energy consumption in pulping process and keep the crystallinity of the cellulose in pulp, eucalyptus was selected in this study. Different quantities of ethanol, formic acid and MK2 and different experimental conditions led to different contents of alpha -cellulose and different crystallinities of the cellulose.

Catalytic selectivity in alcohol organosolv pulping of spruce wood

2009
Development of a more efficient and environmentally friendly pulping process is seen as a necessity to cope with problems currently faced by pulp and paper industries. The organosolv pulping process seems to be the right choice to deal with the problems.
