"International Parliament Organs and European Institutional Organisation: The Case of the European Parliament" [PDF]
The European Parliament is a member of the family of international parliamentary organs (lPOs). "Parts of international organisations, composed of parliamentarians", as they are often described, are in my view one of the most important achievements of ...

Baby Octopuses Grow Hundreds of Mystery Organs Only to Lose Them as They Grow Up
[Science alert] Your internal organs grow and change throughout your life, but rarely do they vanish without a trace. For baby octopuses, things are not so simple.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Music-Making and Musical Instruments in the Čiurlionis Family Environment
This study examines for the first time the relationships with music, family musical traditions, and their importance to all family members – but especially to the composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875–1911) – of the two generations

The need for increasing the retrieval of organs : doctors’ attitudes towards opting-out [PDF]
Some countries have introduced the opting-out system of organ donation as a way of increasing the number of available organs for transplants. Public opinion is divided on this issue and so are medical recommendations.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
