Atomically Revealing Bulk Point Defect Dynamics in Hydrogen‐Driven γ‐Fe2O3 → Fe3O4 → FeO Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.

The Anisotropic Adsorption of De Novo Allosteric Two‐Component Protein Fibers on Mica Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interfacial behavior of de novo designed proteins that self‐assemble into tubular architectures with distinct morphologies — small (S), large (L), and helical (H) fibers — at the muscovite mica‐water interface is explored using in situ AFM. Abstract Protein adsorption at solid–liquid interfaces underlies many biomedical and materials

Three-component detection technology of down-hole TEM for hidden geological anomalies in coal mines

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
To meet the geological requirements for detailed exploration of concealed anomalies in coal mines and to accurately delineate and interpret hidden water hazards around boreholes, a three-component geological anomaly localization technique using borehole ...

Germanane Quantum Dots Promote Metabolic Reprogramming of Immune Cells Toward Regulatory T Cells and Suppress Inflammation In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic changes in immune cells direct the phenotype and function of the host immune system. Smart nanomaterials must target metabolic pathways to direct immune cell fate. This study reports the fabrication and first application of germanane quantum dots (GeHQDs) to modulate inflammation in vitro and in vivo.

Using the Photostationary State of Arylazopyrazoles to Control Phase Transitions of Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of new arylazopyrazole photoswitches is designed as dopants for liquid crystalline materials. Unprecedented, the distribution of photoisomers at the photostationary state upon irradiation with light of specific wavelengths (365, 460, 520 nm) is used to control the liquid crystalline phase transitions under isothermal conditions, including ...

Posterior Wall Fragments in Acetabular Both‐Column Fractures: Morphology, Type, and the Significance of its Projection

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery
Objective Most both‐column acetabular fractures are combined with posterior wall fragments. However, the morphology of this posterior wall is varied, and how to fix this posterior wall remains a controversial topic.
