Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

Market orientation and business economic performance : a mediated model. [PDF]

open access: yes
Previous studies have found that market orientation significantly predicts economic performance. The present study attempts to provide a necessarily partial model for how this impact takes place using innovation degree, innovation performance and ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

“Iridescent” Reflective Tags to Enable Radar-based Orientation Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes
Accurate orientation estimation of objects can aid in scene understanding in many applications. In this paper, we consider use cases where passive tags could be deployed to assist radar systems in estimating object orientation.

Estimating Three-Dimensional Body Orientation Based on an Improved Complementary Filter for Human Motion Tracking

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Rigid body orientation determined by IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) is widely applied in robotics, navigation, rehabilitation, and human-computer interaction. In this paper, aiming at dynamically fusing quaternions computed from angular rate integration

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Head Detection and Orientation Estimation for Pedestrian Safety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
-Head detection and orientation estimation are a vital component in the intention recognition of pedestrians. In this paper we propose a novel framework to detect highly occluded pedestrians and estimate their head orientation. Detection is performed for

COHERENCE ENHANCEMENT DIFFUSION USING ROBUST ORIENTATION ESTIMATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, a new robust orientation estimation for Coherence Enhancement Diffusion (CED) is proposed. In CED, proper scale selection is very important as the gradient vector at that scale reflects the orientation of local ridge.
