Influence of strand size, board density, and adhesive type on characteristics of oriented strand lumber boards manufactured from pine strands

open access: yesBioResources, 2019
The influence of selected technological aspects was studied relative to characteristics of oriented strand lumber (OSL) boards manufactured from pine strands. Six types of boards were prepared, differing in the strand fraction size, density (700 kg/m3 and 800 kg/m3), and adhesive used to glue the strands in the core layer.

Price Discovery in Private Cash Forward Markets - The Case of Lumber [PDF]

open access: yes
Cash forward contracting is a common, and often preferred, means of managing price risk for agribusinesses. Despite this, little is known about the performance of cash forward markets, in particular the role they play in price discovery.

Fibrates Inhibit PLTP‐induced M2 Macrophage Infiltration and Increase the Sensitivity of Hepatocellular Carcinoma to ICIs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phospholipid transfer protein(PLTP) plays a critical role in forming a complex with kinase A (AURKA) and P65. This interaction facilitates phosphorylation of P65 at Ser536, leading to the activation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Ultimately, this leads to the upregulation of downstream cytokines, including IL‐6, IL‐8, and CSF‐1, which promotes M2 ...

Potential of Irish orientated strand board in bending active structures

open access: yes, 2015
To determine the potential of a low cost Irish engineered timber product to replace high cost solid timber for use in bending active structures such as gridshells a single Irish engineered timber product in the form of orientated strand board (OSB) was selected.

Loss of SOCS1 in Donor T Cells Exacerbates Intestinal GVHD by Driving a Chemokine‐Dependent Pro‐Inflammatory Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell‐specific Socs1 knockout leads to inflammatory differentiation of CD8+ T cells, prompting the STAT1/2 complex to drive the activation of Ccl5, Ccr5, and Cxcr3, and promoting the skewing of monocytes toward a pro‐inflammatory M1 macrophage lineage.
