Salient object based action recognition using histogram of Changing Edge Orientation (HCEO)

2017 IEEE 15th International Conference on Software Engineering Research, Management and Applications (SERA), 2017
Action recognition has been a growing research topic in computer vision due to its great potentials for real-world applications. In this paper, we develop an effective action recognition approach based on salient object detection and propose a new feature descriptor to represent the changes of edge orientation.

THE COURSE-BASED MODEL OF TRANSFER SUCCESS: AN ACTION-ORIENTED RESEARCH PARADIGM

Community College Journal of Research and Practice, 1999
This article describes an action - oriented paradigm for evaluating transfer success which is course - based rather than student - based. Traditional research typically tracks the performance of community college students in various cohorts (e.g., demographic groups or graduates vs. early transfers) as they transfer to other institutions.

Action-Based Cognition: How Robots with No Sensory System Orient Themselves in an Open Field Box

2005
This paper shows how spatial cognition and the ability to orient in a closed arena can also emerge in artificial organisms with no sensory apparatus. The control systems (Artificial Neural Networks) of some populations of simulated robots have been evolved in an experimental set-up that is usually used to study spatial cognition of real organisms.
