The nature, function, and destiny of the human body—Origen’s interpretation of 1 Cor 15 [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Antikes Christentum / Journal of Ancient Christianity, 2019
Abstract In this article, I will investigate Origen’s use of two metaphors: The seed metaphor and the clothing metaphor. Both metaphors are found in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, which Origen uses as his biblical foundation in the passage from On First Principles that will be analyzed in this article.

Conservation implications of low contemporary connectivity along the Mid‐Atlantic Ridge in hydrothermal vent gastropods

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Polymetallic sulfide deposits produced at hydrothermal vent fields are targets for mining exploitation along the Mid‐Atlantic Ridge, threatening the functioning and resilience of vent ecosystems that provide multiple ecosystem services. Knowledge about connectivity between vents will inform conservation practices.

Reconsidering the role of introduced species in the climate‐affected and highly invaded eastern Mediterranean

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Bioinvasions are considered mostly as a biodiversity and conservation hazard, but in specific situations, introduced species can bring ecological or socioeconomic benefits. We assessed the social–ecological role of marine introduced species in the eastern Mediterranean Sea—a global hotspot of bioinvasions and extirpations—and their potential ...

Nature as theophany in Origen and Johannes Eriugena

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2021
In a classical sense and in Patristic works the concept of Nature usually refers to a metaphysical principle of being and action. Nature as the whole world of created things and particularly of living beings (as we name it in modern times) is considered as an organized cosmos, or, in the words of Origen, as an immense animal.

How identity bias affects perceptions of conservation messages on social media

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Public support is essential for conservation, as public opinion can influence decision‐making and policy. Therefore, understanding whether bias toward conservationists due to their identity (identity bias) affects their perceived credibility and support for their recommendations is important.
