Orinus thoroldii is an important alpine grass endemic to the western Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China, which has high ecological and genetic values. Here, we first assembled the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of O. thoroldii based on sequences from Illumina HiSeq4000 platform. We obtained the cp genome with the total length of 134,205 bp.

A New Species of Orinus (Poaceae) from Qinghai, China
Novon, 2008A new species of Orinus Hitchcock, O. alticulmus L. B. Cai & Tong Lin Zhang, is described and illustrated. This species is endemic to Qinghai province, China, occurring at altitudes of 2450-2600 m on sandy soils. It resembles O. kokonorica (K. S. Hao) Tzvelev, but differs from that species by its slightly effuse panicles, longer spikelets usually with ...

Syntax of complex bird song in the large-billed reed warbler (Acrocephalus orinus)
Bioacoustics, 2016AbstractAmong songbirds there are species with rich and variable repertoires and very complex sequences of sounds that are hard to analyse. Here, we investigate repertoire and syntax organization in the large-billed reed warbler advertising vocalization.

In the present study, a total of eleven low-copy nuclear gene markers were developed using transcriptomes for the plant genus Orinus Hitchc. (Poaceae), which comprises three species of grasses widely distributed in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. These developed markers were successfully amplified and sequenced for 90 individuals from nine populations of ...

Orinus intermedius is an endemic perennial species occurring exclusively in the southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP). It has particularly important ecological and genetic values, and some of its morphological characters are between O. thoroldii and O. kokonoricus.

Orinus longiglumis(Poaceae: Chloridoideae), a New Species from Xizang (Tibet), China
Annales Botanici Fennici, 2009Orinus longiglumis L.B. Cai & X. Su sp. nova (Poaceae) is described and illustrated. It is endemic to the south-central part of Xizang Zizhiqu (Tibet), China, occurring at an elevation of 3040 to 3650 m on sandy soils. It resembles O. thoroldii, but differs from that species by the commonly hairy culms and leaves, longer particles, longer glumes that ...

To quantitatively analyze the response of distributions and hydrogen isotopic compositions (δD) of plant leaf wax to moisture, and to better understand their implications for paleoclimatic reconstruction, we measured average chain length (ACL) and δD values of n-alkanes and n-fatty acids (n-FAs) from Orinus kokonorica, a typical and representative ...

Six species have been described for the genus Orinus Hitchc. (Poaceae). Our analyses of morphological and genetic variation at the population level indicate that the genus should be reduced to three species, one of which, O. intermedius X. Su & J. Quan Liu, we describe as new from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
