Detection of shocked atomic gas in the Kleinmann-Low nebula [PDF]

open access: yes
The 63 micrometer (3)p(1)-(3)P(2) fine structure line emission of neutral atomic oxygen at the center of the Orion nebula with a resolution of 30" is presented. There are three main emission peaks.

Formation of Jupiter-mass Binary Objects through Photoerosion of Fragmenting Cores

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The recent discovery of tens of Jupiter-mass binary objects (JuMBOs) in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) with the James Webb Space Telescope has intensified the debate on the origin of free-floating planetary mass objects within star-forming regions.

Nonlinear Evolution of the Kelvin–Helmholtz Instability in the Presence of Radiation and Parallel Magnetic Fields

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The evolution of Kelvin–Helmholtz (KH) instability in the Orion Nebula is studied using a two-dimensional radiation magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation in the presence of the in-plane magnetic field parallel to the flow direction.

Water Ice in the Edge-on Orion Silhouette Disk 114–426 from JWST NIRCam Images

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We examine images of the protoplanetary disk 114–426 with JWST/NIRCam in 12 bands. This large disk is oriented edge on with a dark midplane flanked by lobes of scattered light.
